SAOimage allows the interactive building of a spatial region that can be fed to other IRAF tasks ( e.g. , imcnts, see Features of PROS Software, Radial Profiles and Projections) to sum up counts etc. Bring up SAOimage using ximtool and display the ROSAT test image xdata$rp110590_iml.imh.
N.B.: If you are working with a blocked or sectioned image, the region will be created in the corresponding coordinates. If required, the original image coordinates can be restored using fixsaoreg).
