The HXDS detectors are shipped to MSFC following their postcalibration at SAO's Porter Exchange X-ray Test Facility and BESSY in Berlin, Germany. The detectors will be put back into their design locations on the HXDS's HXDA, BND-H and BND-500. This page provides status and record of the installation:

• March18, 1998. The equipment leaves SAO in Cambridge, MA.
• March 20, 1998. The equipment arrives at MSFC's receiving docks at 7:30 am under the carefull transport of Arab Cartages Dave Roberts and his wife (not available for photo).
• March 23, 1998. Unpacking and installation preparations begin. Detectors are moved to the clean room prep area and electronics rack hardware and workstations are moved to the XRCF second floor.
• March 24, 1998. Cleaning of the detectors was completed. The HSI, fpc_hn, and fpc_5 are installed onto the HXDA (remember that fpc_hs is currently installed at the BND-500 and will remain there). HSI Sun is reconfigured and working, printing system is working, BND-H PC is back together and ready for test of its connections.
• PIC01. Cleaning detectors in the XRCF preclean area.
• PIC02. Flow proportional counters cleaned and ready for installation.
• PIC03. HSI being installed onto the HXDA.
• March 25, 1998. Rolled the HXDA into the Instrument Chamber and began cable connections.
• PIC04. HXDA with instruments installed and outside of the IC.
• PIC05. HXDA ready for roll in.
• PIC06. HXDA in place inside the IC.
