The HXDS Solid State Detectors and Flow Proportional Counters used to calibrate the AXAF mirrors are underwent post calibration testing in a collaborative effort between SAO and PTB of Germany at the Berliner Elektronenspeicherring-Gesellschaft für Synchrotronstrahlung m.b.H. (BESSY) in Berlin.
A series of three test runs were made, the first of which was completed in October of 1997. An overview of each test run is be offered on these pages.
Both SSD's used in the calibration of the AXAF mirrors were shipped to Berlin in early October, setup for the first series of tests on Sunday, October 12, 1997, and completed testing on Sunday, October 26, 1997.
Calibration Test Run #2, Flow Proportional Counters.
The detector test chamber from the SAO Porter Exchange x-ray test facility was removed, modified, and shipped to Berlin to support testing of the FPC's used to calibrate the AXAF mirrors. Testing will begin December 3, 1997.
Calibration Test Run #3, Flow Proportional Counters.
Testing detector test chamber is used once again to support testing of HXDS PFC's and apertures on the BESSY KMC and PTB White Light beamlines. Testing takes place the last two weeks of January, 1998.
