SAOimage for remote users
If you are using PROS/IRAF via remote logon to another computer, and
if you have an imaging terminal, SAOimage, can be used to display data
but you must setup as follows:
- 1.
- Initiate X windows on your home terminal before logging on to
the remote computer. If you remote logon first, then initiate X windows, the
windows appear on the remote computer, rather than your home terminal.
This frequently kills the remote computer which then requires rebooting.

- 2.
- Set your computer name in the
unix environment variable, DISPLAY
(located in the .login file). To
check this type the unix command:

  cfa#: setenv DISPLAY=whouse.washington.gov:0.0

- 3.
- Initiate SAOimage using ximtool as described above.
terminal.

  xp> ximtool nasa#: 0
