ChaMPlane Observation with CTIO 4m Hydra

July 25-27, 2003

I. Target lists

                         ChaMPlane CTIO/Hydra Observation Field Lists

Priorities of lists:
1. All detections XoH (8): X-ray source (any band) with H-alpha emission.
2. H X (287): H band optical counterparts
3. B w/o H X (166): B band w/o H band optical counterparts
4. S w/o B X (54): S band w/o B band optical counterparts
5. Optical list H (434): H-alpha emission sources (excluding the 8 sources in 'All detections XoH')

Click the field name to see the color-magnitude diagram of that field with H-alpha and
Chandra sources marked.

In lists X, Xo and XoH:
'err_r' is the error radius (in arcsec) of each source (based on its
        off axis angle and net_cnt)
'errcir' is 'err_r' plus an additional 1.5" tolerance (added in
        quadrature)
'match' is the offset (in arcsec) between the X-ray and optical coordinates.
A match is when: match < errcir. Each of the X, Xo and XoH
	lists is sorted by 'match'.

Source lists:

X Chandra deep SgrA field (Muno, M., et al. 2003 ApJ, 589, 225)
   source optical counterparts.
NOTE: The purpose of this list is to provide the RA and Dec for
the Chandra optical counterparts. Some of the brighter optical
magnitudes (and Ha-R) may not be accurate due to saturation and
   therefore large psf fit Chi^2.

Xo Chandra source optical counterparts.
This list is a subset of list X. It contains only those objects
with good psf fit and correct magnitudes from list X.

XoH Chandra source optical counterparts with Ha emission.
The objects in this list are in both Xo and H.

H Ha emission sources with Ha-R < -0.3 and SNR > 5.

M Ha emission sources with -0.3 < Ha-R < -0.2 and SNR > 5. Most of
   them are probably M stars.

F FOPS (field positioner) stars with 13 < R < 17.

III. Observation Plan

Here is an observing elevation chart showing the locus of GC1 (left) and M30 (right) during the night. Horizontal axis is the time in hours. Space between two gray bars are the astronomical twilight zone. Vertical axis is the object zenith distance in degrees.

postscript and txt

Here is an observing almanac made for this run.

Here is the CTIO 2003 Ephemeris.

The astronomical twilight on July 25-27, 2003 ends at 7:29pm local time and the duration ranging from 10:40:31 (640.5min) on July 25 to 10:38:36 (638.6min) on July 27.
Observe GC1 from 7:30pm until 3am. Then switch to M30 for the rest of the night, until 6:10am.

Here is the observing instruction by Allen.
