Astronomical HistoryI started by enjoying the stars at a summer camp in Western New York. Being a Girl Scout, I was able to volunteer at the Buffalo Museum of Science. I worked in the dome from 1988. Marilou Beebak and Dan(Don't ask me to spell his name) Kugawinski, trained me to work in the solar observatory. After many wonderful years there, I moved to Long Island and received my BS and MS in Astronomy/planetary science and physics from Stony Brook. I am currently working at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
The current project I am working on is the AXAF ( Advanced X-Ray
Astronomical Facility). This is the X-ray telescope in the Great Observatory series (HST, the Hubble Space Telescope, is the optical one and GRO, the Gamma Ray Observatory, is another).
Yes, I have rents! Judy and Ray. Judy is a computer teacher who
works with Macs in Orchard Park, NY. Ray fixes copiers all over the WNY area
. This is a very
important job since one cannot function in today's society without a
copier. They live in Western New York in a tiny town called Alden.
Yup! Gots one of those too! Dawn is a happy worker at Marine Midland(the tall

I am currently a computer specialist at The Harvard- Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics ( AKA the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory). I work on the AXAF
project.
We were running calibrations at XRCF in Huntsville Alabama. The mirrors are gone from there and on their way to Ball!
