Left: PANIC Ks-band image around IGR J17497-2821 obtained on 2006 Sep 21 UT when the source was in outburst. North is up. East is to the left. The data were obtained with a seeing of 0.75'' and a projected pixel size of 0.127''. The  error circles for the Swift and Chandra positions (ATel  900 and 907) are overplotted as green and red circles respectively.  Two sources are visible inside the Chandra error circle. The closest to the Chandra position has Ks~15.9. For the sake of clarity we label from 1 to 6 the near-infrared sources reported in ATel 906 as candidates 1 to 6. Brighter sources within the Swift error circle are 2MASS field stars reported in ATel  897Right: PANIC Ks-band image obtained on 2007 Feb 10 UT. The Chandra positions is overplotted.  The NIR counterpart to IGR J17497-2821 has faded below detection (Ks > 17.8).
