Estimating SXG Count Rates

We recommend PIMMS for estimating SXG count rates, given an assumed spectral shape and a count rate in another instrument or an absolute flux. SXG provides an interactive interface to PIMMS, similar to W3PIMMS. Click here for more information on the use of PIMMS for SXG.

DSRI also provides an interactive tool, UM_TOOL, for estimating SXG count rates. It has the advantage of providing count rate estimates for the OXS. In general, it's results are consistent with those of PIMMS, but users should note that UM_TOOL estimates count rates within the half-power diameter, so it's rates are in general half those of PIMMS.

For quick reference, we provide graphs of conversion factors for some typical cases.
