SAO Summer Intern Program
The SAO (Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory) Summer Intern Program is a nine or ten week long program, depending on the availability of Harvard housing. In 2008 the program will likely run from Sunday, June 8 through Saturday, August 16.
The program is funded by the National Science Foundation and the Smithsonian Institution. Undergraduate students interested in a career in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, or related physical sciences are encouraged to apply for the 2008 program.
Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents (Green Card holders), and must be enrolled in a degree program leading to a bachelors degree. Seniors who will graduate in June of 2008 (or before) are not eligible.

Application information:
All parts of applications for the 2008 program must be completed by February 1, 2008. All materials (excluding recommendations and transcripts) should be submitted electronically.
Letters of recommendation and transcripts can be mailed separately postmarked February 1, 2008. If an application is not complete, it will not be considered.
We ask for an essay (600 to 800 words) describing academic and career goals, scientific interests, relevant work experience, why you would like to be in our program and why you would be a good candidate.

Go to the Fellowship Application Login page.
Select "Update Account"
then "Register". On the Registration page, enter your full email address
and a password of your choice. Repeat the password for verification and
select "Register Now".
On-line Application Form
After logging in to the application, select "View Application Status" to
check what remains incomplete in your application. In addition, when
viewing your application online, you can check previously uploaded files
by clicking on the numbered button provided.
Until the deadline, you can access the application to make corrections,
including uploading new versions of the pdf files

We do not accept FAXed or e-mailed application materials.
We do not accept "Jobtrack" or other electronic resumés.
